Pro Player Rankings

Pro pickleball player rankings are determined by several organizations using different ranking systems based on tournament performances, points earned, and overall win-loss records. The main ranking systems include:

1. PPA (Professional Pickleball Association) Rankings

• The PPA Tour ranks players based on points accumulated in sanctioned PPA events.

• Players earn points by advancing through rounds, with more points awarded for higher finishes in gold-tier tournaments.

• Only PPA-exclusive players are ranked in this system.

2. APP (Association of Pickleball Players) Rankings

• The APP Tour follows a points-based ranking system, similar to the PPA.

• Players accumulate points based on their performance in APP-sanctioned tournaments.

• APP rankings are used for qualification in events like the USA Pickleball National Championships.

3. USA Pickleball (USAP) Rankings

• USAP uses a dynamic universal rating system (DUPR) to rank players.

• DUPR considers match history, opponents' ratings, and margin of victory to provide an accurate skill rating.

• This system is widely used for both amateur and professional players.

4. DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating)

• DUPR is one of the most comprehensive ranking systems, using match results from all major tournaments (PPA, APP, USAP, and more).

• It calculates ratings based on who you play against, the score margin, and match consistency.

• DUPR ratings range from 2.0 to 8.0, with the highest-rated pros around 7.0+.

5. World Pickleball Rankings (WPR)

• This ranking system aggregates results from multiple tours, including PPA, APP, and USAP events.

• It provides a more global ranking by incorporating international tournaments.

How Pros Earn Points & Rankings

• Tournament Performance: The further a player advances, the more points they earn.

• Strength of Opponent: Wins against higher-ranked players boost rankings more.

• Recency of Matches: Recent performances weigh more than older ones.

• Event Tier: Major tournaments (e.g., PPA Grand Slams, APP Majors) award more points.
