How to clean your pickleball paddle
It is important to clean your pickleball paddle on a regular basis. Doing so can help you maintain a positive life span of the paddle. Also, cleaning your paddle will help it play in a like-new condition.
Most paddles have a textured surface that help you create spin on your shots. If the groves become filled with dirt you can lose the effectiveness of your pickleball paddle to perform properly.
Cleaning the hitting surface of your paddle is easy. Just take a damp lint-free cloth to clean the surface. I have found cleaning in a circular motion is very effective. I would recommend cleaning your paddle after each session of play.
After cleaning your paddle, be sure and dry it off. You do not want water to accumulate in the honeycomb core that could possibly trap water inside the paddle.
Now if you have a raw carbon paddle, you may want to purchase a carbon fiber cleaning block. All you do is rub the block in a circular motion over the paddle after each time you play. Then wipe it off with a cloth towel.
You can clean the grip with a slightly dampened lint-free cloth as well. Just be sure not to saturate the grip. Water accumulating underneath the grip may cause issues. Be sure and dry the grip after cleaning with a separate cloth.
The experts state a pickleball paddle should last one to five years. Most pickleball paddles are expensive. Take care of them and do not abuse them against the court, other paddles, etc.
